TOP 10: Best Games Overall
Neko Atsume
A seriously super perfect game! It's one of those games that has absolutely no barriers - no skill, time or effort needed because it runs off of real time... you set up a cute little environment for virtual kitties to visit, and then you just... close the app. Next time you visit, you see which kitties visited your phone - or you might catch them passing through at that moment!! It's seriously such a good game.Animal Crossing (any title)
I mean, who doesn't like Animal Crossing? You literally get full agency and control over an island, town, city, etc... and get to decorate it, run it, format it, and choose cute little animal people to live there... the only reason it's not number one is because the amount of control means it's too easy to get sucked into overthinking... especially with decorating, lol!Sticky Business
It's such a cute, little to no stakes game where you run your own online sticker business, make stickers, sell them on your pretend storefront and then hear back from your customers!!! It's a really cute game that lets you be creative but there's no pressure to create "correctly"!!Ao Oni
A bit of a tonal switch up from the super cute, relaxing games I've named so far but Ao Oni just holds a special place in my silly little heart... the plot and story itself is very typical but you will never, ever, ever beat the experience of playing Ao Oni for the first time. Trust me. It's one of those semi-serious horror games that doesn't take itself too seriously, but enough to sometimes be scary too. Great for people who want to play horror but can't stomach it... which is basically me, eek!!!Unpacking
Another cute, fun, relaxing game... you get to follow a character's life through unpacking their things as they move houses during their life. You start from a childhood bedroom, then into a university dorm, then house-sharing, and so on... it's really impressive how much story you can fit into a game where you JUST unbox and unpack a character's belongings.Pokemon X / Y
I'd say the Pokemon franchise as a whole - and honestly, feel free to treat this entry as that, but I named Pokemon X/Y because it's my favourite instalment... not for any particular reason because the story is very -typically- Pokemon, but I just... love the Pokemon that the X/Y generation introduced!!!Stardew Valley
I know, predictable pick but it's such a good game... you can play it a bazillion times and you'll still go back to make another save file. I mean, come on, making your own farm, feeling like you're a part of a community with your farm being right on the edge of a town with lots of cute characters... it's like a home away from home, except you're actually being productive in making and running a farm - instead of sitting on your butt playing computer games, lol!Pokemon Go
Seriously, Pokemon Go is such a cute, fun way to interact with the Pokemon franchise... I love it because it actually gets me out of the house and there's heeeeeaps of opportunities to meet other people in person through it. You literally just... walk around and catch Pokemon, but in the real world. It's awesome!Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
Honestly I don't think enough people talk about how revolutionary Skylanders was for gaming. Yes, sure, the franchise didn't end up taking off in the end beyond the first game (arguably the first 2-3), but it's one of the first real examples I can think of when it comes to integrating video games with real life. You collect the figures/toys, put them on a 'portal' which is almost Bluetooth-like in nature, and it ports your toy/figure to the screen where you play and fight as them. For a 2011 release, I feel like that kind of approach to gaming was prolly only just emerging, hence, I really hold the first instalment to Skylanders in a high regard... plus, it's super fun to speedrun!!!Sonic Colours (Original -or- Remaster)
Honestly, I love the Sonic franchise in general because Sonic as a character is just... so me??? I dunno there's just something about platformer games, running and jumping around levels... Sonic Colours has always felt like a really nice intro to platforming and to the Sonic franchise in general, at least in my opinion. The levels can be tricky but not frustrating - I play games to have fun, not to stress (...too much!)
